Machete attack on regional train near Überlingen injures three staff members

A 26-year-old man is alleged to have first approached a female passenger aggressively on a regional express from Radolfzell to Friedrichshafen near Überlingen in the early hours of 8 January. When three railway staff members intervened and attempted to restrain him, he allegedly drew a machete and swung it towards them.

The staff overpowered the man and held him until police arrived. The three employees suffered minor injuries during the struggle. Due to his condition, the suspect was admitted to a secure ward of a specialist hospital; a judge is to decide on his further placement.
