Shoplifting suspect threatens employee with folding knife in St. Wendel
While fleeing a grocery store on Marienstraße in St. Wendel in the early evening of 27 October 2026, a 22-year-old man allegedly threatened an employee with a folding knife and insulted him. The employee had tried to stop the escape, during which the stolen goods fell to the ground. Earlier, staff had confronted the man at the checkout about groceries worth just under ten euros that he had concealed in his clothing. During the ensuing argument, he headbutted the employee, causing a minor injury. The man and his teenage companion initially escaped but were found and detained by police during the search. After appearing before a judge, the 22-year-old was taken to a prison the following day.
