Man with two knives threatens police officers in Rattelsdorf
Witnesses reported an apparently confused man carrying two knives in Mürsbach, a district of Rattelsdorf, on Saturday morning. Police officers encountered the 38-year-old at the edge of the village during a search operation. According to police, he continued to threaten officers with the knives and moved toward them after pepper spray and warning shots had had no effect. Officers used their service weapons and the man sustained a gunshot injury to his leg. Additional officers then subdued him with a Taser and arrested him. He was taken to hospital for treatment, while no one else was injured. The Bavarian State Criminal Police Office is reviewing the lawfulness of the firearm use under the direction of the Bamberg public prosecutor's office.
