Man threatened with knife and assaulted at Bonifaziusplatz
A 42-year-old man sustained injuries to his face and head at Bonifaziusplatz in Mainz on the evening of 5 October 2026. According to the initial findings, a group of around 20 people, mostly teenagers, surrounded and assaulted him near Bonifaziuskirche at about 6:30 p.m. The man said he was first threatened with a knife; several people then knocked him down and kicked him while he was on the ground. Others in the group allegedly filmed the assault. Witness accounts enabled police to check several possible participants nearby and establish their identities. Police are investigating suspected aggravated assault and are still examining the background and cause of the attack. No injury from the knife is reported.
