Teenager holds knife during confrontation in Mainz shop
A confrontation with a store detective took place in a shop on Schusterstraße in Mainz's old town on Thursday evening. Three teenagers had been approached while leaving the shop; when one tried to evade the check, the detective held him.
Another teenager is alleged to have held a knife and sprayed pepper spray towards the detective. The detective was not hit and remained uninjured. The three teenagers then fled, and investigators are still examining whether the incident was connected to a theft.
