Man allegedly threatened vehicle occupants with knife in Landau
Vehicle occupants reported that a man holding a knife had run toward them and threatened them near Weißquartierplatz in Landau. Police stopped their vehicle early on 3 October 2026 while responding to a reported dispute; as the vehicle drove off, a traffic sign was held out of it and then discarded. Officers identified a 36-year-old man as the suspect in the knife threat. He is also under investigation over an allegation that he had earlier sexually harassed a 37-year-old woman at a nearby venue and subsequently threatened her. Police found him on Westbahnstraße, took him to the station and released him after their procedures. A 20-year-old vehicle occupant later said he had stolen traffic signs. Police are still investigating the sequence of events.
