Man threatens supermarket staff with kitchen knife in Kassel

After a theft at a supermarket in Kassel-Wolfsanger/Hasenhecke on 8 July, a 38-year-old man allegedly threatened several employees with a kitchen knife. A cashier confronted him at the exit after a customer reported seeing him put goods into bags and head out without paying. He allegedly pulled the knife from his jacket and threatened staff with it again in the car park when they followed him. One employee kept a safe distance and provided police with location updates. Officers arrested the suspect minutes later on Opferberg and seized the knife. He was brought before a judge, who was to decide on pre-trial detention.
