Woman critically injured in suspected axe attack in Hanover
Hanover police are investigating a 19-year-old man on suspicion of attempted manslaughter. He is alleged to have suddenly attacked his 18-year-old former partner with an axe at around 2 p.m. on Friday, when they met near her home in Hanover-Herrenhausen, leaving her critically injured. Witnesses found the woman and called emergency services; she underwent emergency surgery. The suspect left the scene and was found shortly afterward near Herrenhausen Church with severe cut and stab injuries. He also underwent emergency surgery and, according to police, was in life-threatening condition. Investigators were still examining how he sustained his injuries.
