Man critically injured in knife attack in Hamburg

A 34-year-old man was critically injured by knife wounds on Tuesday morning during an altercation in Hamburg's St. Georg district. He had become involved in an argument with an acquaintance near August-Bebel-Park, which escalated into a physical confrontation. The attacker injured him with a knife and then fled by bicycle in the direction of Berliner Tor station. Emergency personnel took the injured man to hospital with an emergency doctor, where he underwent emergency surgery. Police said he is no longer in life-threatening condition. The homicide squad is investigating, while an initial search for the suspect was unsuccessful.
