Resident threatens partygoers in Gera with knife
An altercation involving six people took place in the courtyard of an apartment building in central Gera early on Friday evening. A 37-year-old resident is alleged to have first insulted a young man. When a 26-year-old tried to mediate, the opposing parties punched and kicked each other, police said, leaving both men slightly injured.
The resident left the scene but returned shortly afterwards carrying a pipe wrench and a knife, threatening the group that had been celebrating outside the building. The partygoers fled. Police located the man nearby, seized a knife and opened criminal proceedings. The intoxicated resident was also ordered to leave the area.
