Men threaten staff with knife at Gelsenkirchen central station

On 22 January, two men allegedly threatened employees of a bistro in Gelsenkirchen central station with a knife, insulted them and damaged property. Federal police encountered a 22-year-old man who was said to have been holding a dagger; it fell to the ground during the intervention.

A 24-year-old man allegedly approached the officers in a threatening manner, initially fled and was then also brought to the ground. During the operation, he is alleged to have punched one officer in the face, attempted another attack and kicked police officers. Investigations were opened against both men, and the 24-year-old was taken into custody.
