Man draws knife during altercation at Essen central station
Federal police intervened in an altercation involving several people at Essen central station on 20 January. At around 5:25 p.m., officers stopped a 32-year-old man from running towards two other participants and attempting to attack them. They found that he was holding a pocketknife with an open blade and seized it. According to federal police, video footage showed that the man had earlier punched a 41-year-old man in the face after an exchange of words. A mutual physical altercation then involved several people, including a 47-year-old man. The suspect was taken into police custody and is under investigation for dangerous bodily harm.
