Man draws knife and attacks officers during Dresden police operation
A 51-year-old man was seriously injured when an officer shot him during a police operation in Dresden-Prohlis, and he was taken to a Dresden hospital. Police had encountered him at his home on Berzdorfer Straße at about 5 p.m. on 30 September while seeking to execute an arrest warrant relating to a sexual offence. According to the initial account, he drew a knife and first threatened to injure himself, then attacked the officers. The report does not say whether he used the knife in that attack.
