Man with knife replica advances towards police officers

In Berlin, a 77-year-old man allegedly insulted a 32-year-old resident and drew a knife after the resident addressed him from a balcony. The man initially left the area but was later found by police in a nearby apartment building.

When officers opened the apartment door after obtaining a judicial search warrant, the 77-year-old was still holding the knife. He allegedly ignored repeated orders to put it down and advanced towards the officers. Police then used a conducted-energy device; the man was injured, received medical treatment at the scene and was subsequently taken to a psychiatric hospital ward. A later examination found that the knife was a replica. The investigation is ongoing.
