Man remanded after knife attack on witness in Bremen

A 44-year-old man was detained after a shoplifting incident in Bremen-Vegesack. He is alleged to have threatened a witness with a knife on a car park at about 16:30 on 29 July and made stabbing motions towards him. During a later attempt to flee, he is alleged to have knocked a 47-year-old pursuer to the ground and struck his head against a railway rail. The injured man received outpatient hospital treatment. Officers later detained the man in Beckstraße, while the knife was subsequently found and seized on the escape route. A remand judge issued a detention order and the investigation is continuing.
