Federal prosecutors take over investigation after knife attack in Berlin

Federal prosecutors have taken over the investigation into a suspected attempted murder at Berlin's Holocaust Memorial. A young adult is alleged to have attacked a person from behind with a knife in the memorial's stelae field on the early evening of 21 February, causing life-threatening injuries. He is accused of attempted murder and dangerous bodily harm. According to federal prosecutors, he is alleged to have acted from a radical Islamist and antisemitic conviction. Berlin's state criminal police office is continuing the investigation.
