Man seriously injured in knife attack at Helmut-Haller-Platz in Augsburg
At about 20:30 on Sunday, 28 June 2026, a physical altercation took place between a 33-year-old man and a 27-year-old man at Helmut-Haller-Platz in Augsburg. The 27-year-old's 28-year-old brother, who was initially uninvolved, allegedly seriously injured the 33-year-old with a knife. While the 28-year-old initially fled, the 27-year-old is alleged to have continued assaulting the injured man. The 33-year-old was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Both suspect brothers were arrested the following day. At the prosecution's request, an investigating judge ordered both men remanded in custody on suspicion of dangerous bodily harm; the investigation is ongoing.
