Man seriously injured by knife stab during altercation in Essen
During the night of 28 June, a 24-year-old man was seriously injured by a knife stab in an altercation involving several people in central Essen. Police said the incident began near the stairs to Schützenbahn and later moved to the area around Viehofer Straße and the junction with Kastanienallee and Rottstraße. The injured man received initial treatment and was taken to hospital. A 41-year-old suspect initially fled but was provisionally detained shortly afterwards. Police recovered a knife believed to have been used along his escape route and are investigating him on suspicion of dangerous bodily harm.
