Witness injured in knife attack in Altenburg
During a fight in the Altenburg Nord area on the afternoon of 18 July, a 27-year-old man and a 29-year-old man allegedly also used poles and pipes. A previously uninvolved 27-year-old witness intervened when the 27-year-old man was involved with a knife and held him on the ground. The witness sustained multiple stab wounds. Police identified everyone involved and seized the weapons. The suspected knife attacker was initially provisionally detained but released on the instructions of the public prosecutor; the lightly injured witness left hospital later that evening. Criminal police are investigating on suspicion of dangerous bodily harm and the cause of the altercation.
