Passer-by lightly injured with knife as police shoot armed man
A 40-year-old man is alleged to have stolen a knife from a butcher's shop on Kaiserstraße in Wuppertal-Vohwinkel at about 15:35 on 6 August and lightly injured a 32-year-old passer-by with it. Police said he then ran from the shop and continued fleeing.
At the Bruch suspension railway stop, the man, who was still armed, encountered officers who were there for another operation. He is alleged to have approached the officers, who then used firearms. The man was seriously injured and taken to hospital after receiving treatment at the scene. Hagen police are investigating the firearms deployment under the direction of the Wuppertal public prosecutor's office.
