Man dies after knife attack in Uelzen
A 30-year-old man died in hospital after suffering a knife injury to his back. Police said that on the evening of 11 January 2026, he had become involved in an argument and scuffle with a 26-year-old man at Herzogenplatz in Uelzen; a snow shovel was also reportedly involved.
The 26-year-old is alleged to have injured the man with a knife during the confrontation. Passers-by alerted emergency services, which took the victim to hospital. The 26-year-old was provisionally detained near the scene; police are investigating a possible homicide and said they secured a knife.
