Woman dies from stab wounds in Stralsund; man held in pre-trial detention
A 42-year-old woman died from multiple stab wounds, according to preliminary autopsy findings. Her body was found in an apartment in Stralsund where a fire had occurred on Monday, 5 October 2026. Police did not specify what stabbing implement caused the wounds.
Witnesses said a 23-year-old man had previously been in the apartment. Police searched for him and arrested him. On 6 October, at the prosecution’s request, Stralsund District Court issued a detention warrant on strong suspicion of homicide and deliberate arson. The suspect is in pre-trial detention, and the investigation continues.
