Man seriously injured in parking-lot attack
A 54-year-old man was seriously injured in Rösrath-Hoffnungsthal on Monday evening after leaving a restaurant. Police said he and a companion had left a venue on Hauptstraße at about 9:15 p.m. and were heading to the parking lot when a man attacked him with a pointed object as he got into his car. The victim suffered multiple stab injuries and was taken to hospital. The suspect ran toward Julweg, and police used a helicopter in the search. A homicide investigation unit is investigating; the motive remains unclear.
