Woman dies after knife attack in Rheine
A 46-year-old woman died after a knife attack in Rheine on 12 August 2026. Police said she had previously argued with her 55-year-old husband at their residence and called emergency services to report that he was attacking her with a knife.
Officers found the woman injured and unconscious. She died at the scene despite resuscitation efforts. The man was arrested there, and a judge later granted prosecutors' application for his remand in custody on suspicion of manslaughter. A homicide investigation unit is investigating. The presumption of innocence applies.
