Man threatens pursuers with knife in Oldenburg

A 21-year-old man sprayed irritant spray towards two security staff outside a nightclub on Mottenstraße in Oldenburg on 20 April. Several people sustained minor injuries. When people pursued the man, he threatened them with a knife, causing them to stop. He later approached police officers threateningly and again used irritant spray against them. A 27-year-old officer fired at him; the attacker was hit several times, critically injured and died in hospital. An investigation into the officer's use of the firearm is under way.
