Man injured with pointed hammer during altercation in Oldenburg

A woman was injured on the arm during an altercation outside a flat in Oldenburg. According to police, a 47-year-old man allegedly attempted to strike the head of his 39-year-old former partner with a pointed hammer. She reportedly fended off the attack but suffered a broken arm.

The woman had arrived with a male companion to demand the return of personal belongings. When the 47-year-old man and his 44-year-old flatmate came outside, a physical confrontation involving four people followed. Police provisionally detained the 47-year-old and seized a hammer believed to have been used during a search. He is under investigation on suspicion of attempted manslaughter.
