Bar owner seriously injured in knife attack in Nuremberg

The 52-year-old owner of a bar in Nuremberg's Schoppershof district suffered serious injuries to her upper body in a suspected knife attack on 20 October 2026 and was taken to hospital. At about 10 p.m., a 31-year-old man had apparently argued with a 44-year-old employee at the bar on Fritz-von-Röth-Straße over payment and being refused further drinks; the two men reportedly scuffled. The employee sustained minor injuries and also received medical care. People at the bar held the suspect until police arrived and provisionally detained him. Criminal investigators collected evidence and are investigating suspected attempted manslaughter. A judge was expected to consider the question of custody on 21 October; the precise circumstances of the attack remained unclear.
