Police officer attacked with knife in Munich

Police were called to an apartment in Munich on 19 January following a report of an alleged threat. Officers could not confirm the reported threat at the scene. However, they encountered a 61-year-old man holding a knife in the stairwell before he returned to his apartment. Special police units later entered the apartment after contact with him was no longer possible. He is alleged to have attacked a police officer with the knife and stabbed him multiple times. According to police, the officer's protective equipment prevented serious injury. The man was disarmed and arrested, then taken to hospital for treatment of his own injuries; his placement is being examined.
