Employee injured with knife during attempted petrol station robbery in Mönchengladbach
A 79-year-old employee suffered a minor knife injury during an attempted robbery at a petrol station in the Windberg area of Mönchengladbach. According to his account, a man waited inside the shop on Marienburger Straße until another customer had left, at about 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, 22 September 2026. The man then went behind the counter, threatened the employee with a knife and demanded that he open the till. The employee picked up a baseball bat and struck the attacker; he was injured in the ensuing struggle. The suspect fled without taking anything, heading along Königsberger Straße. An immediate police search, including a police dog, was unsuccessful, and officers are seeking witnesses.
