Man, 22, seriously injured in knife attack in Mönchengladbach
A 22-year-old man was seriously injured on Mühlenstraße in Mönchengladbach on 17 September 2026, according to his account. He said he had accidentally brushed a woman with his elbow while passing a larger group and had apologised. A man from the group then allegedly pushed and punched him repeatedly before drawing a knife. The 22-year-old suffered a knife injury to his right hand as he raised his hands to protect himself. He said his next memory was of receiving treatment from an ambulance crew at Rheydter Marktplatz; the crew took him to hospital. He reported the attack to police the following day. Police are seeking witnesses.
