Man arrested after knife threat at Mönchengladbach central station

A 33-year-old man is alleged to have threatened a 30-year-old man with a knife at Mönchengladbach central station on 13 July. The 30-year-old said he had previously told the man to leave the station after observing several suspected thefts. At an entrance, the suspect allegedly tried to pressure him into following around a corner and then threatened him with the knife when he refused, according to federal police. The 30-year-old fled, while the suspect briefly followed before leaving the station. Federal police arrested the suspect near the station. Following information from the victim, the knife was recovered from a manhole cover with assistance from the fire service and seized; officers also found several drinks believed to have been stolen. Criminal proceedings were opened, and the man was subsequently brought before a remand judge.
