Resident detains burglar carrying butterfly knife in Mönchengladbach
At about 3 p.m. on 15 May, a resident of a detached house on Aachener Straße in Mönchengladbach confronted a suspected burglar as he climbed out through a kitchen window. During the physical confrontation, the 49-year-old suspect produced a butterfly knife, though the knife was not used. The resident detained the man and a suspected female accomplice until police arrived. Both men suffered minor injuries. Police provisionally detained both suspects, released them the following day after consulting prosecutors, and seized the knife. Investigators are pursuing suspected burglary in conjunction with robbery-related theft.
