Father threatened with knife in Meckenheim
At around 12:50 on Monday, 12 October 2026, a 76-year-old man reported to police that his 48-year-old son had threatened him with a knife in the home they shared in Meckenheim. The father fled into the garden and reached safety; he described his son as being in an acute psychological crisis. Because police could not rule out a risk that the son might harm himself, a specialist unit was deployed at around 15:00. Officers restrained the 48-year-old inside the house. He was injured during that intervention and subsequently taken to hospital.
