Mechernich: Man seriously injured after knife attack on police during operation
During a police operation at municipal accommodation in Mechernich on 28 May, a 50-year-old resident allegedly attacked officers with a knife. The officers had been assisting the social psychiatric service with his admission to a clinic. A police firearm was discharged during the operation. The man was seriously injured, received initial treatment at the scene and was taken to hospital. Bonn police took over the further investigation in coordination with the Bonn public prosecutor's office.
