Man threatens group of walkers with knife in Mainz
A 53-year-old allegedly insulted a group of walkers in a green belt in Mainz-Oberstadt on Wednesday evening, pulled a knife and held it threateningly towards the group. When the walkers ran away, he reportedly pursued one of them with the knife in his hand. Officers found the man on a nearby park bench shortly afterwards. After he pulled a long pointed object from his trouser pocket, officers used a Taser and restrained him. The object proved to be sharpened wooden sticks, and officers also found a pocketknife in his shopping bag. Proceedings for making threats were opened against the 53-year-old, who was then taken to a psychiatric facility.
