Man threatens passengers on suburban train with utility knife

On 30 May, a 24-year-old man threatened passengers with a utility knife on a suburban train at Ludwigshafen am Rhein station between 20:40 and 20:50. After the train stopped at Neustadt an der Weinstraße main station, the conductor alerted the federal police. The conductor and another railway employee brought the man to the ground and disarmed him. Officers restrained the intoxicated man because of his aggressive behaviour and took him to a police station. He was later taken to a specialist clinic because he was in a psychological state of emergency, and authorities opened an investigation including on suspicion of threats. Federal police are seeking witnesses and possible victims.
