Man seriously injured with pointed object in Leipzig attack

A 41-year-old man was seriously injured in an altercation with a 28-year-old man in Leipzig-Grünau-Mitte on 4 May. The 28-year-old is alleged to have injured him in the upper body with a pointed object near the Schönauer Ring tram stop before fleeing. Bystanders provided first aid, and the injured man was taken to hospital for intensive care; he remained in hospital. Police later located the 28-year-old near the scene. At the public prosecutor's request, a warrant was issued and executed against him on urgent suspicion of attempted manslaughter combined with dangerous bodily harm.
