Man draws knife after sexually assaulting schoolgirl in Essen
A 46-year-old man is alleged to have attacked a schoolgirl from behind and sexually assaulted her in the underground-station access at Universität Essen on 4 May. The schoolgirl managed to break free and call for help. After a 25-year-old passer-by learned what had happened and confronted the man, he drew a knife and ran away. The witness followed him and kept police informed of his location. Officers arrested the man shortly afterwards in Essen, and a judge ordered him remanded in custody.
