Restaurant owner threatened with knife and robbed in Cologne
A 25-year-old man allegedly threatened a 68-year-old restaurant owner with a knife and stole his music speaker at a restaurant on Olpener Straße in Cologne-Merheim at about 10:40 p.m. on May 4. He had allegedly first tried to pull away the owner's bag containing a wallet, but failed because the owner resisted. The man then allegedly took a knife from the cutlery display, waved it threateningly toward the owner, took the speaker and left the restaurant. A 55-year-old employee who intervened was allegedly punched in the face. Officers found the man near the scene, arrested him and recovered the speaker. Police are investigating suspected aggravated robbery, and a hearing before a judge was planned.
