Taxi driver threatened with kitchen knife in Karlsruhe

A 49-year-old man is alleged to have threatened a taxi driver in Karlsruhe with a kitchen knife on 10 May. The passenger had been driven from Pforzheim to an address in Karlsruhe and is alleged to have refused to pay the fare. When the driver insisted on payment, the suspect is said to have held the knife toward him. The driver then took him to a petrol station on Linkenheimer Landstraße, where the man left the taxi without paying. Police officers provisionally detained him shortly afterwards in Neureut. A judge ordered pre-trial detention on suspicion of aggravated robbery and extortion.
