Man threatens supermarket employee and store detectives with pocketknife in Ingolstadt

A 38-year-old man allegedly took goods from a supermarket on Eriagstraße in Ingolstadt. When an employee confronted him at around 4 p.m., the man tried to bite his hand and threatened him with a closed pocketknife. The employee held on to the man's backpack, and the man left the store without any stolen goods. Two store detectives followed him to a homeless shelter at Franziskanerwasser. There, he verbally threatened them and made stabbing motions towards them with the pocketknife, which he had opened. The detectives kept their distance and were not injured. Police provisionally detained the man at the shelter at around 5 p.m. He was brought before a judge at Ingolstadt District Court and subsequently taken to a correctional facility; criminal police are investigating.
