Man seriously injured in knife attack after dispute in Hildesheim
A 27-year-old man was seriously injured in an alleged knife attack near Berliner Straße in Hildesheim during the night leading into 24 September 2026 and underwent emergency surgery in hospital. According to the initial investigation, he had argued with a 43-year-old man whom he reportedly knew; during the ensuing physical confrontation, the older man allegedly attacked him with a knife. The injured man fled to a nearby petrol station, where a witness called emergency services. The 43-year-old initially left the scene, later contacted the police by phone and was provisionally detained at his home. Prosecutors applied for a pre-trial detention order, which had not yet been decided when the report was issued. Investigators are still examining the circumstances.
