Two women threatened with sword and forced to hand over money in Hanover

On the evening of 29 September 2026, two men threatened two women with a sword on a green space between Rotekreuzstraße and the Roderbruch tram stop in Hanover. One demanded cash, threatened physical violence and made several swinging motions with the sword. The women, aged 52 and approximately 70, had been there independently of each other; each handed over coins, and neither was physically injured. The men escaped together on an e-scooter along Nußriede towards Roderbruchmarkt. An immediate police search was unsuccessful; officers are seeking witnesses and have also asked the older woman to contact them. Police place the incident at around 9 p.m.
