Three men injured in attack in Hanover

Three men were injured on Sunday afternoon during an altercation outside the Stellwerk contact and consumption facility on Augustenstraße in Hanover. Several people are suspected of surrounding the men at about 1:40 p.m. and attacking them with a stabbing implement as well as punches and kicks. A 28-year-old man suffered a serious stab wound, while another 28-year-old and a 20-year-old were lightly injured. After emergency medical treatment, the injured men were taken to hospital; the seriously injured man was later reported to be in stable condition.

The attackers initially fled. Police officers located four male suspects shortly afterwards near Emmichplatz in the Eilenriede and arrested them. Prosecutors applied for pre-trial detention for a 19-year-old and a 34-year-old man, with no initial decision on those applications. The prosecution is treating the case as attempted manslaughter, while investigations into the background and the detainees' precise involvement continue.
