Man provisionally detained after stabbing attack in Hameln
In a pedestrian underpass at Mühlenstraße/Bäckerstraße in Hameln, a man is alleged to have attacked two people known to him at about 00:25 on 12 August 2025. Police said he first struck a 56-year-old man with a heavy object and attacked the man's 45-year-old companion after she told him to stop. He then allegedly picked up a pointed object found at the scene and repeatedly stabbed the 56-year-old man in the face. The man suffered life-threatening injuries and was flown to hospital; his companion was also injured. The suspect initially fled but was located by police shortly afterwards and provisionally detained.
