Bank employee threatened with knife in Germersheim

A 75-year-old man entered a bank branch on Tournuser Platz in Germersheim on Wednesday morning and threatened an employee with a knife. The employee had previously pushed the man away from the counter area. The man then spread accelerant on the floor and set the liquid alight. No one was injured by the resulting flare. Police arrested the man, while fire and rescue services also attended. Criminal police are investigating; the motive and the extent of the damage remain unknown.
