Witness threatened with machete after petrol station robbery
A petrol station on Bottroper Straße was broken into during the night of 2 July and cigarettes were stolen. Police said several masked offenders used a manhole cover to smash a door to the sales area. When they encountered an employee, one of them struck the 18-year-old man; he sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital. A witness followed the getaway car, after which the offenders allegedly threatened him with a machete. The witness was unharmed. Three young men were identified and provisionally detained in Oberhausen, while investigations into a possible additional suspect continue.
