Man arrested after knife threat at Gelsenkirchen drugstore
A 37-year-old man was arrested after a shoplifting incident at a drugstore in central Gelsenkirchen. He allegedly threatened a store detective and another employee with a knife when they tried to stop him, then fled. The two employees followed him until police arrived. When officers addressed the man as he hid behind a vehicle, he allegedly tried to reach for an opened knife in his jacket pocket, but officers prevented this. During transport to police custody, he allegedly attempted to injure an officer with a headbutt. One officer suffered a minor finger injury and remained fit for duty.
