Man remanded in custody after knife attack on former partner

A 56-year-old man is alleged to have entered the home of his separated partner and their shared child in a district of Friedrichshafen late on 10 September. According to police, he first strangled the 37-year-old woman and then inflicted a life-threatening injury to her neck with a knife.

The woman escaped and was taken to hospital by emergency services. Officers provisionally arrested the man at the scene. On the following afternoon, a judge issued and enforced a detention order at the public prosecutor's request for dangerous bodily harm combined with threats.
