Man arrested after knife threat at Frankfurt beverage shop

A 55-year-old man allegedly demanded a free cold drink at a beverage shop in Frankfurt-Niederursel on 23 March. After an employee refused, he returned a few minutes later carrying a large kitchen knife, according to police, threatened those present and again demanded an alcoholic drink. Two women who were also in the shop persuaded him to leave. Outside, he damaged a chair, discarded the knife and left. Police identified him using video footage and arrested him; he is under investigation for attempted aggravated extortion.
